“Do not remember the former things”

Isa 43:18-19 says;

“Do not remember the former things,

Nor consider the things of old.

Behold, I will do a new thing,

Now it shall spring forth;

Shall you not know it?

I will even make a road in the wilderness

And rivers in the desert.

As we are now well into this New Year my continued impression from God is that He has plans to do a New Thing. And though I suppose this is something God is willing to do every year, I’ve been moved particularly by Isaiah’s rendition exposing the way God has moved His people forward into ‘His New Things’ in times past. It seems imperative that there must be some forgetting of old, some moving on from the past in order to embrace what He has in store.

Knowing He is ‘able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think’ as written in Eph 3:20. It deems necessary that there be some unlearning and even some forgetting that must take place in order to embrace what’s coming.

We know that with ‘Christ in us’ all things are possible. If these ‘all thing’ are exceedingly abundantly above what we can ask or think, how can we expect to see them in light of our past experiences?

So how do we forget the former things?

And what things in our life need to be forgotten?

How do we not consider the things of old?

We Pray!

God, it is only You that can wipe away my misunderstandings, my false aspirations, my fears, and my sins. Wash me new, in every way. I desire a clean slate so that I can be in line with the New Thing you have in store for Your Church.

Lord, Here am I, use me, prepare me for what You have in store.

Let me see Your Glory on earth as it is in heaven. Let me be apart!

A ‘Punishment Mentality’

You might think as a Christian we have little right to condemn with punishment. But you may also be surprised to hear that we are called not only to punish, but to have a ‘Punishment Mentality’. Let me explain.

We live now with minds renewed by the spirit of God. That is the spirit of truth living within us. As we listen to this discernment we are fully able to confront and defeat any lie contrary to God’s standard of truth.

When the world, governed by the god of this world, challenges God’s Word on any level we’re called to punish those thoughts.

2 Cor 10:5-6 tells us we should be “casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.”

God not only expects us to punish the works of darkness that cause havoc in our lives and in our culture, he has equipped us to do it handily.

2 Cor 10:4 makes it clear that “the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,”

It’s true, we’ve been given authority over the devil and his world view. Now it’s up to us to practice the position we’ve inherited through Christ by having a ‘Punishment Mentality’.

God with Us! The mystery revealed.

Emmanuel, God with Us!

More than just a good holiday song. God with us, now God In Us is the Creators way of bringing heaven on earth. Jesus, the Word, came to bring the light of heaven into a world, dark and void of eternal understanding. God came to dwell  among His creation and when He left,  to impart within our hearts His Spirit of Truth and Power who will daily instruct us, until we see Him again. No longer prophets to tell us the will of God, now God speaks directly to us and through us. We are His prophets and priests to declare the Word of God with signs following to a lost and dying world. Not in our own strength or wisdom, but Praise be to God, the Greater One now in us.  Truly now we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. The Mystery revealed…Christ in us, the hope of glory.

The Promise is Wholeness!

Learning to live in the promises of God’s Word is our lifelong goal.

 –  God said it, we believe it, and that settles it –

This has to be our confession.

When it comes to healing, the Bible makes it clear there is One Great Physician, His Name is I AM, also known as Jehovah Rapha. The Lord who heals.

Though we are in this world, we must remember we are not of this world. And it is on that score we have a completed victory.

In the Old Testament God said He would put none of the diseases that plagued the Egyptians on His Chosen People.

The psalmists reminds us to “forget not His benefits, who forgives all our iniquities and heals all our diseases”

Jesus came preaching, teaching and healing all who were sick and oppressed of the devil.

Our health, our families, our marriages, our finances are destine for wholeness.

It is His Will for us to walk in the finished work of Christ. Wholeness.

Stand firm then in the freedom in which Christ has set you free, and do not be burdened again by the yoke of slavery!

The ‘Awaited Day that Changed Everything’ …

Many of us today probably don’t think of the day of Pentecost as the ‘Awaited Day’. But indeed it was. It was the day in history that changed everything.

The Christ had come, the long awaited Messiah, the Chosen One of God who took away the sins of the world. And not only did His blood redeem us from our sin, His words declared a new covenant of love and His works demonstrated the power that was to be loosed on mankind through His Spirit.

He introduced the Holy Spirit to his followers in John’s Gospel like this: “it is imperative that I go away, for if I don’t go away the Helper, the Promise of the Father, will not come to you…” . And then again in Luke’s Gospel Jesus said “Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.”

The book of Acts, which is often called the beginning of the Church Age, unfolds with Jesus reiterating; “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witness to me…”

The evidence of this Pentecost power is quickly demonstrated by the disciple who weeks before ran from being persecuted and now are seen speaking boldly to their persecutors ‘in the Name of Jesus’.

Something was different!   Something Changed!

The third Person of what we know as the Trinity had been

loosed fully upon mankind for the first time… That’s reason to Celebrate!

Our lives as born again believers are empower by faith through this same Holy Spirit.

We are called to be bold witnesses (signs and wonders) for the Kingdom of God.

Our faith in God’s Promise, the Holy Spirit, is our enabler!

Peter said in Acts 2:38-39,”Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”

Paul’s question to the Ephesians still rings true today “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” Acts 19:2-f

This Gift of baptism in the Holy Spirit that we receive by faith empowers us to truly die to self so we can boldly demonstrate “it is not I who live, but Christ who lives in me”, and being led by the Spirit can produce fruit of the Spirit and great works for God’s Kingdom Glory.

Stir yourself up this Pentecost with the Gift of the Holy Spirit. Believe Him to embolden you with His power to be His witness. Desire the Promises of God’s Word and Truth, and live in the fullness of all He has for you.

Let Him Change Everything!

I believe every person alive has a deep desire to be connected with The Creator. He is the One True God of heaven and earth, and most especially the God who created us. I believe we are literally designed with a knowledge of our separation and a longing to be in ‘Right Standing’ with Him. A knowing that we are accepted and approved. Something every child longs for from their Father.

The Bible speaks clearly on this matter. The quest ends in joy when we discover that our Right Standing is not only possible, it has already been completed. The best part of this truth is knowing that it has nothing to do with how good we are or what good things we do. It’s simply a reality that we come to believe, based on faith in what God has declared in His scriptures.

Rom 5:19 say “Because one person disobeyed God (that’s Adam), many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God (that’s Jesus), many will be made righteous.   … Are you made Righteous?

Righteous is Right Standing, Acceptance, and Approval.

2 Cor 5:21 declares that “He (that’s God) made Him (that’s Jesus) who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Notice two things here:

  1. We did nothing to inherit sin. Because of Adam’s sin we were born sinners (separated from God).
  2. We do nothing to become Righteous, except believe Jesus paid our price in full on the Cross with His own blood.

Heb 9:22 makes it clear that “without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.”

So, Jesus became sin that you and I might become righteous to our Father God through Him.

When God looks at His creation on earth, He will see 2 types of people. Ones who have, by faith, become a ‘Child of God’ trusting in His provision. And the other, are those who are separated from God, because their sin nature has not been cleansed by the blood of the Lamb. That is regardless of how good they may be or how much good they may do.

Believes, never doubt the finished work of Calvary. Remember your life is not act of performance but of faith in His Grace. And this grace alone is the power that performs in us to be good and to do good.

If this is the first time you’ve heard these words, you can find yourself in ‘Right Standing’ with God simply by confessing your new found faith and receiving God’s Son as your provision from sin.

Rom 10:9-10 tell us “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

The HOLY SPIRIT… I wonder if you know Him?

Jesus told his disciples ‘it is imperative that I go away, because if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you, but if I depart, I will send Him to you’.
The world changed the day the Holy Spirit was loosed upon the believers in Christ.
The ‘Promise from the Father’ was the Person of the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity. Known as the Spirit of Truth, the Spirit of God, and the Spirit of Christ the One who will dwell in you, the believer!
This promised helper demonstrated what a life would be like in Him at the awaited day of Pentecost. Simple uneducated fishermen became embolden with power from on high. Peter who had just cowardly denied his Savior was now witnessing with boldness the Good News to the very audience that had crucified our Christ.
Now keep in mind this Helper was not just sent to ‘jump start’ His New Church. The Promise of this indwelling Person was ‘to you and your children and to all who are far off, as many as our Lord God will call’. That’s Us, Called out Ones! He dwells in us!
Scripture tells us that He is the Spirit of Truth, who will lead us in all truth, show us things to come, and intercede on our behalf, speaking through us things that cannot be uttered. Spiritual things….. I wonder… do you know Him?
I’m convinced our Christian life cannot be lived out without a personal relationship with the Promised One. The Amplified Bible describes Him as our ‘Comforter, Councilor, Advocate and Standby’ One who beckons us to be in fellowship with Him, having all wisdom to share with those who ask. But so often we ‘have not because we ask not’
This Spirit, who’s soul purpose is to reveal the fullness of Jesus, can also be grieved. I’m afraid the One who was sent to be ‘closer than a brother’ is grieved when those who have put their trust in Christ neglect His fellowship, His power, His wisdom and His truth.
Ask Him right now to come into your heart afresh and anew.
Talk with Him daily, hourly and let the Helper minister to you. He longs for your fellowship and desires to reveal the wisdom you have need of today.
Truly He is your best friend!

Getting Ready!

Recently in one of our Church Services a prophetic word was spoken that has weighed heavily on my heart the past few weeks.

It was a simple word, and yet very clear.

“Prepare yourselves”, the Spirit said, “with Praise in one hand and Thanksgiving in the other”

This I believe saints is the remedy and cure for the onslaught of demonic pressures that face the world today. In the midst of turmoil, with insecurity all around us, we can find our rest and peace simply with a heart of Praise and a spirit of Thanksgiving.

Psalm 22:3 declares that God inhabits the praises of His people. This means that when we lift up the praises of our God in our hearts with song, His presence is found in our midst. It’s that simple.

The familiar Psalm 100 instructs us to “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise.” In other words, with an attitude of gratitude, a heart that is thankful, recognizing His faithful hand in our every affair, we will be found in the security of God’s gates. His Courts.

He is and always will be our refuge, our strength and our high tower. No matter what havoc can be sensed around us, we have a place of peace prepared by Him. Accessed simply with Praise in our one hand, and Thanksgiving in the other.

It’s time to receive our healing.

From the beginning to the end of the Bible healing has not just been evidenced through God, it has been the very heartbeat of God. Remember from the first time man fell through the deception of our enemy, God has provided a healing response. This is God’s nature!
Throughout the course of the Good Book God promises, proclaims, and proves Himself as ‘The God Who Heals’. Knowing man would be weak in the flesh and vulnerable to the destructions of false believing. He offered healing, time and again, to those captive, bound by the deceptive works of the enemy.
From our broken, self-inflicted state God has given us the Promised Healer who has taken our weakness and failures by grace to the cross. God’s heart is not to condemn our ‘missing His mark’ but to heal us, spirit, soul and body, from the sting of sin. The enemy of our soul has now been defeated.
Christ was sent to heal the brokenhearted, and by His stripes ‘We Are Healed’. Our provision is received simply by acknowledging with faith that God has already made a way. It is His nature, and His compassions fail not.

Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits:
Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Ps 103:2-3

It’s time to receive our healing…. Ask and you will receive!

At the beginning of this New Year – 2015,
I think it’s important to remind ourselves … Who’s we are….
We are God’s !
He Keeps us. He Matures us. He Protects us and Provides for us. We’re His !
And He’s the Creator of everything …. That’s both seen and unseen!

This year I believe we are walking into a Season of ‘God Things’.
Where the Head of the Church, that’s Christ, will move upon His Body, that’s Us, in God kind of ways.

Our walk with God is a Supernatural walk. Right from the beginning.
Our faith is in a Creator who is seen not only by His invisible attributes, but also His Miraculous Acts…. Just look at how He delivered Israel out from Egypt. And that’s not to mention how He’s transformed our lives making Us a testimony of His Supernatural.

His Kingdom is not of this world, yet Jesus tells us to pray to the Father ‘Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done on earth as it is in Heaven’
He Only knows how to do God Things. Things of His World, His Kingdom… Miraculous things. And by doing these God Things He wakes and shakes a sleeping world. He releases captives from the grip of darkness and He blesses those who have put their trust in Him.

I pray we get a Vision for ‘God Things’ this year. The things Only God can Do ….. there coming!
